Background
For my course GBDA 301: Global Digital Project 1, it was based on the RSA design brief. My group decided to select the topic Signaling Change, where we chose to tackle this issue because we believe that transportation systems need to be simpler and easier, especially when it’s heavily relied on by everybody. With so many different transportation systems constructed, it’s important that individuals can easily connect to these transit lines in order to travel to any destination they want in an easy, cost-efficient, and timely manner.
For this project, I worked on many parts; some of these parts include research, design, and putting together the big idea summary document. In terms of design, for the prototype I worked on the user profile pages. Please view the prototype down below under solutions.
Identifying the Problem
The major issue when it came to using public transportation was the lack of connectivity between the different transit options available as well as getting lost. The second problem was safety. Since the participants of our research were university students, many of them mentioned the safety of themselves and their peers was a priority when traveling. Another problem was language barriers. Some mentioned that having to purchase tickets or loading a minimum of $10 into a transit card to use transportation has been frustrating. Some students who have moved to Canada and have little knowledge of communicating in English have found it difficult to navigate through the systems and applications.
User Flow
Our team decided to sit together to first compare and contrast the other transit applications and write out the key features we like into the sticky notes. We then created sticky notes depending on our solutions and further developed the next steps and other features that may be presented in the same page. The user flow helped us identify all the features we needed to ensure the success of our solution no matter how big or small.

Some of the sticky notes and arrows helped us with organization such as:
-
Orange: identify premium features.
-
Light green: login and sign up.
-
Arrows: pointed in the direction as to where each button or page would link too

Design Process
During our design process, our group met in person for our meetings. During these meetings we would talk about the prototype layout, designs, and branding. Below you will see some low-fidelity sketches/mockups our of brainstorming. The image following that are some assets that are for our branding. Overall, we wanted to create a user-friendly prototype having the key features we discussed while maintaining to out mission and brand.
